우리가 사는 이 미국 땅은 모든 것이 풍부합니다. 물질적으로나 제도적으로나 부족한 것이 없는 사회입니다.

The US is a land of abundance. There‘s not much lacking.

그런데 왜 많은 사람들의 심령과 가정과 교회가 시들어 가고 있습니까? 영적인 뿌리가 없고 영적인 힘이 없기 때문입니다.

But why are people‘s hearts and churches dying? It‘s because there’s no strength in the spiritual roots.

그러므로 심령과 가정과 교회는 말씀의 영력을 얻어야 하는 것입니다.

Therefore, it’s important for our spirits, family, and church to receive God’s spiritual power.

“네 영혼이 잘 된 것처럼 범사에 잘 되고 강건하기를 원하노라.”

I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.

영적인 문제가 해결되지 않으면 다른 문제는 해결될 수 없고 허무주의에 빠질 수 밖에 없습니다.

If the spiritual problem is not solved, other problems can’t be solved either and one would feel empty.

마르다는 물질에 관심을 가졌으나 마리아는 영적인 면에 관심을 갖고 영적인 힘을 공급 받았습니다.

Martha was focused on material things but Mary focused on spiritual things and thus received spiritual strength.

마르다는 여러가지로 염려했습니다. 불필요한 것들로 염려했습니다.

Martha was worried about unnecessary things.

그런데 마리아는 한 가지 중요한 것 영적인 것을 선택했습니다.

But Mary focused on what was important for her soul.

사람들 중에는 인생을 살아가면서 많은 것에 관심을 가지고 걱정하고 염려할 때가 많이 있습니다.

Many people are worried as they live their life.

그런 가운데서 중요한 한 가지 영적 세계를 잃어버리고 후회하는 것입니다.

And they often lose connection with their spiritual world and regret.

예수님께서도 많은 일보다 한가지 일, 중요한 일을 바로 택하라고 했습니다.

Jesus said that instead of many things, do one thing and the one that is important.

이것을 어떤 신학자는 긍극적 관심/Ultimate Concern 이라고 표현했습니다.

Scholars say this as the ultimate concern.

예수님께서는 마리아를 칭찬하시면서 “하나만 가지고도 족하니라”

Jesus complimented Mary as she had one and it was enough.

사랑하는 성도 여러분! Beloved brothers and sisters!

바쁜 일, 중요한 일, 어디에 삶의 우선을 두고 있습니까?

Between the busy work and the important work, which is your priority?

마르다는 바쁜 일에 우선을 두었습니다. 그러나 마리아는 중요한 일에 우선을 두었습니다.

Martha focused on the busy work. But Mary focused on the important work.

예수님은 언제나 바쁜 일보다는 중요한 일을 먼저 하셨습니다.

Jesus also focused on the important work.

그렇다면 예수 그리스도를 따르는 우리는 어떻게 살아야 합니까? 당연히 중요한 일을 앞세워

해야 할 것입니다. 그럴 때 기쁨과 평안과 은혜와 축복의 삶을 살 수 있습니다.

Then for us who follows Jesus, how should we live? Of course we need to upfront what’s important. When doing so, you’ll receive joy, peace, grace, and blessed life.

이번 주 목요일부터 여름수련회가 열립니다. 말씀 들을 귀한 기회가 또 왔습니다. 여러가지 바쁜

일이 있어도 말씀 듣는 일을 선택해 보시기 바랍니다.

This week is our summer retreat. This is a good opportunity to hear the Word of God. Though there are busy tasks, it’d be good to hear the Word of God.

마리아처럼 예수님처럼, 중요한 일, 영적인 일, 교회 일을 앞세우므로 하나님께 칭찬 받을 수 있기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다!

Just as Mary chose to listen to Jesus, I pray that you will also be commended

as you prioritize what is important—spiritual work and service for the church.
