내가 이 교회 다니는 것은 내가 이 교회에 등록 했기때문에 그저 다니는 것이 아니라, 하나님이 나를 이 교회에 보내시고 거룩한 직분 주셨다는 소명의식을 가지고 교회에 도움이 되어야합니다.
The reason we go to this church is not that we decided to commit to this church. We need to believe that God sent us here and appointed us to serve this local church. We need to have this sense of calling and seek the good of the church.
우리 모두 손에 손잡고 좋은 교회 생명과 부흥이 풍성한 교회 만들어 하나님께 영광을 돌려야 합니다.
We must come together and give glory to God by building up this church to be a life-giving church.
오늘 위대한 사도 바울이 에베소교회 한 평신도인 오네시보로를 교회에 도움이 되는 사람이라고 칭찬하고 축복하고 있습니다.
In today’s passage, we see that the Apostle Paul was commending Onesiphorus, a lay member of the Ephesian church. He was a man who sought the good of the church.
오네시보로는 어떤 사람이었습니까?
What characterized Onesiphorus?
- 만나면 위로와 격려해 주는 사람입니다. Onesiphorus was a man who comforted and encouraged others.
“그가 나를 자주 격려해 주고…” 바울은 오네시보로를 먼저 그가 나를 자주 위로하고 격려해 주었다고 했습니다.
“He often refreshed me…” Paul said Onesiphorus often comforted and encouraged him.
헬라어 원문은 “활력을 넣어준다, 생기를 준다, 싱싱하게 만들어 준다. 기분 좋게 해 준다.그래서 현대 성경에는 “용기를 북돋워 준다”로 번역되어 있습니다.
The Greek word for this is “To refresh, to revive, or to cool again.” For this reason, modern translations read “to encourage.”
지금 바울은 쇠고랑을 차고 차디찬 로마의 감옥에 있습니다. ‘이 일로 많은 사람들이 나를 떠났다’고 했습니다. 그러나 오네시보로는 자주 찾아와서 위로하고 격려해 주었다고 했습니다.
At the time, Paul was imprisoned in Rome, chained in a cold cell. He wrote, “Many left me for this reason,” Nevertheless, Onesiphorus visited him often and refreshed him.
자유가 없는 감옥이라는, 그 힘든 자리에 있는 바울에게 자주 찾아와서 “힘을 내세요, 하나님 함께 해 주십니다.” 믿음의 삶을 살도록 바울을 위로하고 격려해 주었습니다.
While Paul was going through a difficult season in the prison without freedom, Onesiphorus came and said, “Stay strong. God is with you.” He encouraged Paul to stand firm in the faith.
그것이 너무 고마워서 “주님께서 오네시보로 집에 긍휼을 베푸시옵소서.” 축복합니다.
Out of gratitude, Paul blessed Onesiphorus saying, “May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus.”
그렇습니다. 오늘도 우리 교회에 도움이 되는 사람은 다른 사람을 위로해 주고 격려해 주는 사람입니다.
That’s right. Those who seek the good of the church encourage others.
행여라도 다른 사람 마음 상하게 하는 거치는 자가 되면 안 됩니다. 교회에 왔는데 기분 나쁘게 하면 안 됩니다.
They comfort others. God forbid that we may hurt and bring down others. We should never offend anyone who comes to church.
