3. 느헤미야는 크리스천답게 세상과 타협치 않았습니다. As a Christian, Nehemiah did not conform to this world.

느헤미야는 주어진 사명 예루살렘 성을 재건하면서 결코 세상과 타협하지 않았습니다. 세상과 타협하지 않는다는 것은 죄와 타협하지 않는다는 말입니다.

Nehemiah remained faithful to his calling of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem and he did not follow the patterns of this world. This means he did not compromise with sin.

느헤미야가 산발랏, 도미야, 게셈 이런 사람들이 만나자고 할 때에 그들을 만나지 않은 것은, 하나님의 자녀답게 살고 싶어서 그들과 결코 타협하지 않았습니다.

Nehemiah refused to meet with people such as Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem because he wanted to live as a child of God. He did not want to compromise with them.

잠시 만나서 이야기 한번 한다고 뭐가 잘못되겠나 할지 모르지만, 느헤미야는 알았습니다. 죄라는 것, 유혹이라는 것, 이 세상의 것은 조금만 양보해도 큰일 난다는 것을 알았습니다.

It might not have been that big of a deal for him to meet them, but Nehemiah knew. Nehemiah knew compromising even just a little could lead to great danger. He knew it was a sin. He knew it was a temptation.

그래서 단호하게 거절했습니다. 오늘도 마귀는 주의 일, 교회 일을 하되 세상과 적당히 타협하라는 것입니다. ‘너 그렇게 너무 열심히 하지 말아라, 적당히 하라는 것입니다.’ 이게 무서운 유혹입니다.

So, Nehemiah did not hesitate to refuse their request. Even today, the devil tells us to compromise a little. “Serving the church is good, but you do not have to give your all.” This

is a serious temptation.

사람이 한꺼번에 타락하는 것 아닙니다. 조금씩 조금씩 양보하다가 조금씩 조금씩 타협하다가 세상적으로 타락하고 죄를 짓는 것입니다.

The fall of a man does not happen overnight. It happens gradually. Compromising a little will eventually lead one to sin.

주일예배 한번 빠져 보세요. 너무 괴롭고 힘듭니다. 그러나 한 달만 빠지면 느낌이 없습니다. 십일조 한번 떼먹는 게 힘들어요. 몇 번만 안 해봐요, 거리낌 없습니다.

Missing church once will bother our conscience. However, we stop feeling guilty when we miss church for a month. Failing to tithe once will bother our conscience. However, we stop feeling guilty when we stop tithing a few times.

그러므로 성령 충만한 하나님의 자녀는 세상과 적당히 세속화 되어가는 자신을 보면서 깜짝 놀라 깨어나야 합니다.

A child of God who is filled with the Holy Spirit will become alert when he notices himself conforming to this world.
