박헌성 목사 한영설교집 제5권 중에서(93)

오늘 말씀에 “무명한 자 같으나 유명한 자요” 뭐뭐 같으나 뭐뭐이다 라는 말이 여러 번 기록돼 있습니다. 뭐뭐 같아 보여도 사실은 그게 아니다 라는 뜻입니다.

Today’s passage says, “Known, yet regarded as unknown.” It continues to repeat that it appears to be like something but in reality it is something else.

내가 그것이 맞다고 생각했는데 지금 와 보니 그게 틀리더라는 말입니다. 형식과 내용이 다른 것을 의미합니다. 현상과 실상이 다르더라는 것입니다.

In other words, we may have thought this to be right, but later we realize we were wrong. It means the form is different from the content. An idea is different from reality.

그렇다면 예수 믿는 우리는 정신 차리고 살아야 합니다. 착각에서 벗어나야 합니다. 오해에서 벗어나야 합니다.

So then, Christians must be sober-minded. We must not be under an illusion. We cannot afford to be fooled.

속지 말아야 합니다. 진실을 찾아야 합니다. 제대로 알고 제대로 믿어야 은혜롭고 행복하게 살 수 있습니다.

We must not be deceived. We must seek the truth. We must accurately know and believe the truth so that we can live in grace and enjoy happiness.

어떤 분에게 “믿으려면 제대로 믿으라, 하나님이면 하나님, 세상이면 세상, 제대로 안 믿으려면 세상으로 가라”

I once told someone, “If you are going to believe, be serious about your faith. Choose between God or the world. If you refuse to believe, then just be of the world.”

그랬더니 그 분이 정색을 하면서 “지금까지 믿은 것이 아까워서 어떻게 갑니까?”

He gave me a straight face and replied, “What about all the years I spent trusting in God? Wouldn’t that be a waste?”

맞습니다. 그래서 제대로 믿어야 합니다. 어떤 사람이 은혜롭고 행복한 사람입니까?

That’s right. We need to be serious about our faith. What kind of person can live in grace and enjoy happiness?

돈이 많아서 부자인데 무식하면 지식에 가난한 사람입니다. 만족이 없으면 윤리적으로 가난한 사람입니다. 성취감이 없으면 가치관이 빈곤한 사람입니다.

Those who are wealthy but are ignorant lack knowledge. Those who are not satisfied have weak ethics. Those who do not have a sense of accomplishment have poor values.

그리고 성공해서 현재는 부귀를 누리고 있으나 미래가 없으면 불행한 사람입니다. 지금 내 손에는 건강, 지식, 물질, 사랑 가지고 있는 것이 많은데 베푸는 것이 없으면 불행입니다.

Those who are enjoying wealth and yet do not have a future are unhappy. We might have health, knowledge, wealth, and love, but will still be discontent if we do not share them with others.

그러므로 우리가 꼭 알아야 되는 것은 베푸는 것은 내 것입니다. 베푼다는 것은 틀림없이 내가 다른 사람에게 준 것이지만 그게 진짜 내 것입니다.

Therefore, we must remember to share with others. Sharing is giving to others. But actually, only what we give to others is truly ours.
