바울은 일찍이 하나님의 자녀 된 우리들이 얼마나 소중한 신분인지를 일깨워 주었습니다.

The Apostle Paul reminds us how privileged we are as children of God.

우리는 예수 그리스도의 자녀로 부르심을 받았고, 하나님의 사랑하심과 은혜를 입고 살아가는 거룩한 무리, 성도라고 했습니다.

Not only have we been called to be children of God but also saints – the holy people of God who live under grace. We are beings who are loved by God.

그렇습니다. 우리는 하나님의 자녀로 분명히 ‘New Creation’ 새 사람이 되었음에도 불구하고, 하나님의 자녀답게 살지 못할 때가 얼마나 많습니까?

That’s right. Although we are a “new creation,” we fail to live as the children of God oftentimes.

여러분은 이 세상에서 누가 가장 중요하다고 생각합니까? 남편입니까, 아내입니까? 부모입니까, 자식입니까?                                                                                                                        Who is the most important person in this world? Is it your husband, wife, parents, or children?

가장 소중한 사람은 나 자신입니다. 내가 없는 세상은 ‘Nothing’ 아무것도 아닙니다. 그래서 성경은 온 천하를 얻고도 내가 없으면 아무 소용이 없다고 했습니다.

In a sense, “I” am the most important person because we lose meaning once we die. The Bible says, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?”

어떤 사람은 ‘나 같은 사람은 일찍 죽어야 돼’ 하는데 그것은 말도 안 되는 소리입니다. 그것은 인생을 모독하는 말입니다.

Some say, “A person like me deserves to die early.” But this is foolish. That is an insult to life itself.

그래요. 나는 이 세상에서 그 무엇과도 비교할 수 없는 가장 귀한 존재입니다.

That’s right. We need to say, “I am more precious than anything in this world.”

우리가 믿는 성경은 ‘나는 여호와 보시기에 존귀한 자라.’ ‘땅에 있는 성도는 존귀한 자니 나의 모든 즐거움이 저희에게 있도다’ 했습니다.

The Bible says, “For I am honored in the eyes of the LORD.” “As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”
