그런데 현대 교인들은너무 성경을 안 보니까 도둑놈이 집에 들어와도 이곳저곳 다 뒤져도 성경책은 안 본데요.

But since the modern members of the church do not read the Bible, when the thieves enter a house and search, they do not bother to look into the the Bible.

그래서 돈 감추기 제일 안전한 곳이 성경책속입니다.

So, inside the Bible is the safest place to hide money.

그렇습니다. 성경은 하나님의 말씀이고 우리 영의 양식이기에 열심히 공부하고 배워야 됩니다.

That’s right. We need to diligently study and learn the Bible, the Word of God, for it is our spiritual food.

유명한 설교가 스펄죤 목사님에게 어떤 사람이 찾아와서 성경이 너무 어려워서 알 수가 없다고 말하자 그는 “깨닫기 어려운 것은 남겨 놓고 쉬운 것만 읽고서 소화하라”고 했습니다.

A person came up to pastor Spurgeon, a famous preacher, and said that the Bible is too hard to understand, so he responded, “Leave what is hard to understand and read what is easy and digest it.”

마치 생선을 먹을 때에 먹을 수 없는 가시는 옆에 남겨 놓고 맛있는 생선살만 즐기는 것처럼 이해되는 말씀은 깨닫고 안 되는 말씀은 그냥 지나가면서 성경을 맛있게 읽으라고 했습니다.

He told him to read the Bible declisiously by passing through the words that are hard to understand just like we enjoy eating fish by taking out the bone.

그러므로 바울은 디모데에게 성경을 배우라고 했습니다. ‘이 성경은 너로 하여금 그리스도 예수안에 있는 믿음으로 말미암아 구원에 이르는 지혜가 있다.’고 했습니다.

Therefore, Paul told Timothy to learn the Bible. He said, “Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”

모든 성경은 하나님의 감동으로 된 것으로 교훈과 책망과 바르게 함과 의로 교육하기에 유익하니 하나님의 사람으로 온전하게 하며 모든 선한 일을 행할 능력을 갖추게 한다고 했습니다.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

그런데 왜 오늘날 교회와 성도들이 힘과 능력이 없습니까?

But why doesn’t the church or the believers have power and authority today?

그것은 형식적인 종교생활을 하기 때문입니다.

It is because they live a formal religious life.

그렇습니다. 말씀 앞에 거룩한 순종이 없으니 성령의 능력과 권세는 나타나지 않고 감사와 감격이 없는 찬양은 단지 노랫가락에 지나지 않고 부르짖는 영적 기도가 없으니 영력과 응답은 없고, 기쁨으로 봉사하지 않으니 피곤하고 짜증 나고 …

That’s right. They do not experience the power of the Holy Spirit because there is no holy obedience to the Word. Praise without thanksgiving and affections is no different from other songs. There is no spirituality or answer to the prayer because they do not cry out. They become frustrated because they do not serve with joy.

왜 그렇습니까? 우리 마음 중심에 하나님의 말씀이 없기 때문입니다.

Why is that? It is because the Word of God is not in the center of our hearts.

성경은 교양얻기 위해서, 종교지식 얻기 위해서 공부하는 것 아닙니다. 철학적인 예지나 윤리나 도덕을 위해서 배우는 책도 아닙니다.

We do not study the Bible to earn religious knowledge or education. We do not study this book to learn philosophy, foresight, ethics, or morals.

성경은 교양과 윤리와 도덕과 철학등 모든 것 다 포함하고 있지만, 성경은 인간을 구원하고 하나님의 백성으로 승리케하는 살아있고 운동력이 있는 하나님의 말씀입니다.

Though the Bible contains culture, ethics, morality, and philosophy, the Bible is the Living and active Word of God that saves people and makes His people victorious.
