그렇습니다. 지금 바울은 디모데에게 생애 최후의 편지를 쓰면서 이 부패하고 타락한 이 세상에서 너는 이길 수 있느냐,
That’s right. Paul is now writing a final letter to Timothy before his death and asking, can you overcome this corrupt and fallen world,
이 부조리한 세상에서 밀려오는 탁류들을 단호히 거절하고 하나님의 자녀로 바르게 살 수 있느냐,
can you live righteously as a child of God by decisively refusing the fallen things of this absurd world,
경건하게 살 수 있느냐, 믿음으로 살 수 있느냐, 승리할 수 있느냐, 성공할 수 있느냐,
can you live a godly life, can you live in faith, can you be victorious, can you succeed?
디모데야 네가 하나님의 사람으로 그렇게 살아야 되는데 네가 그렇게 살기를 원하느냐라고 질문하면서
Timothy, you need to live in this manner as a child of God, but do you want to live in this manner. As Paul is asking these questions he says
- 배우라는 것입니다. “Learn”.
무엇을 배우라는 것입니까? 세상이나 인간에 대해서 배우라는 것이 아니라 하나님의 말씀, 성경을 배우라는 것입니다.
What does he need to learn? Not about this world or human beings, but learn the Word of God, the Bible.
기독교를 가르켜 “Logos” 말씀의 종교라고 합니다. 그러므로 크리스천들은 하나님의 말씀인 성경을 많이 배우지 않으면 그의 신앙이 절대로 자라지 않습니다.
Christianity is often referred to as “Logos”, the religion of the Word. Therefore, the faith of Christians cannot grow without studying the Bible, which is the Word of God.
어떤 목사님이 교회에 새로 부임하셨습니다. 교인들의 성경실력이 어느 정도 되는가 알아 보려고 지나가는 어린 아이에게 ‘학생, 여리고 성은 누가 무너뜨렸지?’하고 물었더니 이 아이가 깜짝 놀라면서 ‘몰라요, 나는 무너뜨리지 않았어요.’
A new pastor came to a church. He asked a child who was passing by to test the bible knowledge of the congregation, “student, who destroyed the walls of Jericho?” Then the child surprised and said, “I don’t know, I did not destroy it.”
목사님이 하도 기가 막혀 지나가는 주일학교 선생님에게, ‘선생님, 저 어린아이에게 여리고 성은 누가 무너 뜨렸느냐고 물었더니 저는 안 무너뜨렸다고 하니 도대체 어떻게 된 것입니까?’그랬더니 선생님께서 ‘어머 그래요? 그 아이는 거짓말 안 해요.
The pastor was shocked so he asked a Sunday school teacher, “teacher, I asked that student who destroyed the walls of Jericho and he said he did not destroy it. What is happening?”Then the teacher answered, “Oh really? That child does not lie.
착한 아이인데 지가 안했다고 하면 틀림없이 안 했을 거예요.’ 목사님이 실망이 컸습니다. 장로님들에게 자초지정 얘기를 했습니다.
He’s a nice boy, if he said he didn’t do it, I’m sure he didn’t do it.” The pastor was grealy disappointed. Then he explained to the eleders.
그랬더니 목사님의 얘기를 심각하게 듣고 있던 장로님들이 이구동성으로 ‘그걸 다시 세우려면 건축비가 얼마나 듭니까?’
After listening to the pastor seriously, all the elders said in one voice, “How much does it cost to build it again?”
현대 크리스천들이 성경을 모른다는 것을 상징적으로 보여주는 얘기입니다.
This story symbolically reveals how much the modern Christans do not know the Bible.
그렇습니다. 현대 크리스천들이 성경을 모르니 말씀의 지배를 받지 않습니다.
That’s right. Since the modern Christians do not know the Bible, they are not subject to the Word.
그래서 자기 좋은대로 자기 마음대로 살아갑니다. 지금 여러분의 삶을 무엇이 컨트롤하고 있습니까? 여러분의 자아입니까? 아니면 하나님의 말씀입니까?
So, they live their lives however they want. What is controlling your life now? Is it your self? Or is it the Word of God?
오늘 우리 교회의 가장 귀한 원칙과 스텐다드는 무엇입니까? 우리 교회를 통치하고 있는 것이 뭡니까?
What is the most important principle and standard of our church today? What is governing our church?
우리 교회의 과거와 현재 그리고 미래가 무엇에 근거해서 움직여 나가야 합니까? 하나님의 말씀인줄로 믿습니다.
What is the driving force of our church’s past, present, and future? It is the Word of God.
하나님의 말씀이 가라고 하면 가고, 하나님의 말씀이 멈추라고 하면 멈추는 그런 교회가 되어야 할 줄로 믿습니다.
We should be a church that obeys the Word of God—pausing when it tells us to stop and moving forward when it directs us to go.
