고린도교회는 큰 교회였습니다. 성도가 많았습니다. 장점이 많았습니다. 은사를 많이 받았습니다.

The Corinthian church was a large church. There were many believers. They received many spiritual gifts. They received a lot of gifts.

일찍이 바울이 세우고, 유명한 설교가 아볼로가 목회한 곳입니다. 대단한 교회였습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 문제가 많았습니다.

Paul built it, and a famous preacher Apollos ministered there. It was a great church. Nevertheless, there were a lot of problems.

서로 시기하고 질투하고 파벌이 갈라져 있었습니다. 그래서 아무 일도 못했습니다.

They envied each other, and there was division. So they could not do any work.

왜 그랬습니까? 사랑이 없었기 때문입니다.

Why did this happen? Because there was no love.

은사가 없었던 게 아닙니다. 물질이 없었던게 아닙니다. 직분이 없었던 게 아닙니다. 오직 하나 사랑이 없었던 것입니다.

It’s not that they did not have spiritual gifts. It’s not that they did not have finances. It’s not that they did not have duties. It’s only one reason; they did not have love.

어떤 장로님 댁에 처음 시집 온 며느리가 처음 밥을 지었습니다. 1층은 타고 2층은 되고, 3층은 설었습니다. 방에서는 식사를 기다리는데 들어오지 않습니다.

The first daughter-in-law in an elder’s house cooked rice for the first time. 1 st layer was burnt, 2 nd layer was dried, 3 rd was wet. They were waiting for the meal in the room, but it didn’t come.

걱정이 되어서 시어머니가 나가 보니까, 부엌에서 며느리가 기도를 합니다.

When the mother-in-law came out, the daughter-in-law was praying in the kitchen.

“하나님! 오늘은 제가 시집 와서 처음으로 밥을 지었습니다. 잘 지으려고 했는데 3층 밥이 되고 말았습니다.

”God! Today I cooked rice for the first time after getting married. I tried by best, but the rice has 3 layers.

그러나 하나님이 이 식탁에 복을 주시고 시어른들 맛있게 잡숫고 건강케 해 주세요. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.”

But God bless this table and help the in-laws to eat this meal deliciously and make them healthy. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

시어머니가 못 들은 척 하고 방으로 들어 왔습니다.

The mother-in-law pretended as if she did not hear and came back to her room.

잠시 후 며느리가 밥상을 가지고 방에 들어올 때 시어머니가 얼른 받아 놓으면서 자기가 대표기도를 하겠다고 하면서 “하나님! 오늘 우리 며느리가 시집 와서 처음으로 지은 밥상을 받으니 감사합니다. 정성을 다해 지었을 것입니다.

After a while, when her daughter-in-law came into the room with the meal,

the mother-in-law took it and said she will pray for the meal “God! I thank you that we are eating this meal that our daughter-in-law has cooked for the first time after getting married. Surely, she did her best.

비록 3층 밥이 되었다고 하더라도 우리 가족 모두 맛있게 먹게 해 주옵소서. 제가 처음 시집 와 밥 지을 때 다 타버린 불탄 밥이었습니다.

Allow our family to eat this meal deliciously even if the rice has 3 layers. When I first cooked rice after getting married, the rice was all burnt.

그런데 우리 며느리는 그것보다 나은 3층 집을 지었으니까 얼마나 감사한 일입니까!

How grateful is it that our daughter-in-law has cooked rice that has 3 layers!

하나님이 우리 가정에 복을 주셔서 이곳에 3층 집 짓고 우리 모두 행복하고 건강하게 잘 살 수 있도록 해 주옵소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.”

May God bless our home, and help us to build a house of 3 floors and live happily. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

며느리는 잔뜩 긴장해 있다가 시어머니 기도 소리에 마음이 싹 풀렸습니다.

The daughter-in-law was nervous, but she was relieved when she heard her mother-in-law’s prayer.

웃음보가 터졌습니다. 가족들의 사랑이 넘쳤습니다.

They all burst into laughter. The love of family overflowed.

그렇습니다. 사랑은 아름다운 것입니다. 그러므로 우리도 사랑의 사람이 되어야 합니다.

That’s right. Love is wonderful. Therefore, we must become loving people.

그렇습니다. 우리는 생각이 다릅니다. 살아온 삶의 배경이 다릅니다.

That‘s right. We have different ideas. We all have different backgrounds.

환경이 다릅니다. 지식의 수준이 다릅니다. 믿음의 차이가 있습니다.

We grew up in different environments. We have different level of knowledge. There is difference in the maturity if faith.

그런데 이 모든 것들을 무엇으로 하나되게 합니까? But what brings all these things together?

사랑입니다. 그래서 사랑을 알파와 오메가라고 합니다. 처음과 나중이라고 합니다. 사랑하면 문제될 게 없습니다.

Love. So, love is called Alpha and Omega. First and last. There is no problem when you love.

사랑하면 이해 안될 게 없습니다. 사랑하면 못할 게 없습니다. 사랑하면 소망이 있습니다.

If you love, there is nothing you cannot understand. If you love, there is nothing you cannot do. If you love, there is hope.

사랑하는 성도 여러분! Beloved saints!

세상에 오염되지 말고 세속화 되지 말고 기도로, 전도로, 사랑으로 믿음을 새롭게 하시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will renew your faith with prayer, evangelism, and love instead of being conformed and polluted by the world.
