There is no other choice for us. If you let it go, you will die.

마치 등산가가 높은 암벽을 만나면 로프를 타고 올라가는데 로프에 손을 떼면 떨어져 죽습니다.

It is comparable to a situation where a professional mountain climber climbs up the walls of a mountain. Once he lets go of the rope he has been holding onto, he will definitely fall, and most likely die.

그러므로 힘이 들어도 로프를 꽉 잡고 줄에 매달려 있어야 살 수 있습니다. 다른 선택이 없습니다.

Therefore, no matter how difficult it may become, you should be able to hold onto the rope until the end. You don’t have any other choices.

바로 이것이 하나님의 뜻, 의를 쫓는다는 것입니다. 소돔과 고모라가 왜 멸망했습니까?

This is what it means to pursue after the wills of God, His righteousness. Why were Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed?

소돔과 고모라가 타락했기 때문에 멸망했다,

Because Sodom and Gomorrah so defiantly and rebelliously descended into moral corruptions and wickedness, they were judged and destroyed.

거기에 의롭게 사는 의인 열 사람이 없었기 때문에 하나님의 심판을 받을 수 밖에 없었다고 성경은 말씀합니다.

The Bible teaches us that they were completely destroyed because there could not have been found 10 righteous persons living within the cities.

다니엘은 예루살렘이 바벨론에 의하여 함락되었을 때 포로로 끌려간 유대 소년들 중 한 사람이었습니다.

Daniel was one of the Jewish youths who were exiled to the land of the Babylonia after the city of Jerusalem was destroyed.

바벨론 사람들은 유대 소년들을 데려다 3년 동안 특별 교육을 시켜서 술사, 술객을 만들려고 했습니다.

The Babylonians wanted to make the Jewish youths fully trained for 3 years, and prepared them to be the magicians and the sorcerers for the Babylonia.

바벨론 왕은 궁중에서 먹는 훌륭한 음식을 주면서 그들을 교육시키려고 했습니다.

The king of Babylon wanted to indoctrinate them by providing the delicacies of the Babylonian Palace.

그때에 말씀 따라 사는 신실한 다니엘은 “No, 아닙니다.

And Daniel, who was living according to the Word of God, said, “No, this shouldn’t be.

우리는 유대인입니다. 우리는 이방인이 먹는 우상 음식을 먹을 수 없습니다.

We are Jewish people. We cannot eat the Gentile foods that have been offered to pagan idols.”

우리에게는 채소와 물을 주십시오. 정중하게 그들의 제안을 거절했습니다.

“Please just give us vegetables and water instead.” They respectfully declined the offer.

왜 그랬습니까? “의롭게 살려고.” Why did they do it? “In order to live righteously.”

그 후 다니엘과 그의 친구들은 채소와 물만 먹었는데 바벨론 소년들보다 더 윤기가 나고 광채가 났다고 했습니다.

Later on, though Daniel and his friends had only vegetables and drank water, “they were better in appearance and fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate the king’s food.”

하나님이 그들에게 복을 주사 나중에 다니엘은 왕의 신임을 얻고 총리대신이 되었습니다.

God blessed them so much that Daniel won the favor from the Babylonian king, who promoted him to the position of prime minister.

그러자 바벨론 사람들은 어떻게 해서든지 다니엘을 없애자고 모함을 하려고 했습니다만, 다니엘이 얼마나 충성 되고 빈틈없이 허물없이 의롭게 살았던지 모함을 하지 못했습니다.

And the Babylonians wanted to destroy Daniel through every possible means, trying to bring deadly accusations against him. But Daniel was so faithfully and righteously living, without any blemish,
