2. 무너지지 않는 든든한 신앙 An Unwavering Faith 잠 Pro.4:20-27

내 아들아 내 말에 주의하며 내가 말하는 것에 네 귀를 기울이라 그것을 네 눈에서 떠나게 하지 말며 네 마음 속에 지키라 그것은 얻는 자에게 생명이 되며 그의 온 육체의 건강이 됨이니라

모든 지킬 만한 것 중에 더욱 네 마음을 지키라 생명의 근원이 이에서 남이니라 구부러진 말을 네 입에서 버리며 비뚤어진 말을 네 입술에서 멀리 하라 네 눈은 바로 보며 네 눈꺼풀은 네 앞을 곧게 살펴 네 발이 행할 길을 평탄하게 하며 네 모든 길을 든든히 하라 좌로나 우로나 치우치지 말고 네 발을 악에서 떠나게 하라(잠 4:20-27)

My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil(Proverbs 4:20-27)

세계적으로 잘 알려진 유명한 두 건물이 있습니다. 하나는 뉴욕 맨하탄에 있는 엠파이어 스테이트 빌딩입니다.

There are two worldly renown buildings. The first one is the Empire State Building in Manhattan, New York City.

이 건물은 1929년 미국이 경제공황으로 어려움을 겪고 있을 때 라스코라는 젊은이가 3년 동안 세운 102층짜리 건물입니다.

It is a 102-story building, which had been constructed for three years by a man named John J. Raskob,during the Great Depression in 1929.

여러분 중에도 가 보신 분이 많을 것입니다. 저도 몇 번 가 보았는데 얼마나 높은지 엘리베이터를 타고 한 번에 끝까지 올라갈 수가 없습니다.

I am sure some of you must have been to the building. I have also had some opportunities to go and visit the building.

It is so tall and high that you would not to be able to take just one elevator all the way to the top floors.

중간쯤 올라가서는 다시 바꿔 타야 합니다. 참으로 훌륭한 건물입니다.

You need to take different elevators to get to the top floors. It is such a great and splendid building.

그 건물 안에는 3만 명의 직원이 근무하고 2천만 명이 드나드는 세계적 명물이 된 것입니다.

It has become such a worldly renown building which has attracted more than 20 million people, in which about 30,000 employees are working every day.

수많은 사람들이 이곳을 드나들고 있습니다만, 반석 위에 세운 집이기 때문에 흔들리지 않습니다. 견고하게 서 있습니다.

Although so many people are constantly going in and out of the building, it is not becoming unstable or unsafe since it was built upon a strong foundation.

그러나 또 하나의 건물은 이탈리아 토스카라는 지방에 있는 ‘피사의 사탑’입니다.

It firmly stands. Another well-known building is the Leaning Tower of Pisa, in Pisa, Italy.

이 탑은 세울 때부터 문제가 있었습니다. 그것은 기초가 튼튼하지 못한 곳에 세워졌기 때문입니다.

The tower had some problems even from the inception. It was not built upon a strong foundation.

그래서 날이 갈수록 점점 기울어지고 있다고 합니다.

So, the tower is being tilted gradually and incrementally as days go by.
