하나님이 통치하는 나라가 진정한 평화와 자유의 나라입니다. 그런데 어리석은 이스라엘 백성들은 왕을 세워달라고 합니다.

A country ruled by God is a country of true peace and freedom. But the foolish Israelites asked for a king.

그때 하나님께서 ‘그래 그럼 좋다. 왕을 세워 주마. 그 대신 너희는 그 종이 될 것이다. 너희가 종이 되어도 좋다면 왕을 세워야지.’ 그게 하나님의 말씀입니다.

So God said, “Okay, I’ll establish this. But, you will be the enslaved. If it’s okay for you to be servants, then I’ll establish a king.” That was God’s word.

이 말씀에 근거해서 세상의 왕은 백성의 대표가 아니고 하나님이 택하여 세우시는 것입니다.

Based on this, a king is chosen by God, not by the people.

그러므로 선택받은 지도자는 하나님이 다스리시는 종의 의식을 가져야 합니다. 하나님은 왕을 세우기도 하시고 폐하기도 하십니다.

Therefore, the chosen leader must have a sense of God’s reign. God has established and destroyed kings.

사울이 겸손할 때 왕으로 삼았지만 교만할 때 폐했습니다. 겸손해야 합니다.

When Saul was humble, he became the king; but when he was arrogant, he was ruined. You have to be humble.

어떤 초보 의사가 병원을 개업했습니다. 이것저것 정리를 하고 있는데 첫 손님이 들어왔습니다.

A novice doctor opened a hospital. He organized this and that, and the first customer came in.

그때 이 의사가 좀 잘난 척하고 싶어서 아직 개통도 되지 않은 전화기를 들고서 여러 가지 전문용어를 써가면서 별의별 폼을 다 잡았습니다.

At that time, the doctor wanted to show off, so he picked up the landline phone that hadn’t been set up and talked in all medical jargon words.

자기가 대단한 의사라는 것을 보였습니다. 그리고 전화기를 내려놓고 그 손님에게 ‘어떻게 오셨습니까?’ ‘예, 저는 전화국에서 나왔습니다.’

He wanted to show off that he was a great doctor. And when he hung up and asked the customer, “How can I help you?” The man replied, “I’m from the telephone company.”

그렇습니다. 이스라엘 나라가 부패하고 타락할 때 블레셋 앗수르 이웃 나라를 들어 진멸했습니다. 포로로 잡아갔습니다.

Yes, when the kingdom of Israel was corrupt, the Philistines Assyria attacked. They were taken as prisoners

노예가 됐습니다. 그렇습니다. 누가 왕을 세우십니까? 누구에 의해서 나라가 세워집니까? 하나님이십니다. 하나님이 역사의 주인공이십니다.

and became slaves. Yes. Who establishes a king and for whom a country is built? It’s God. God is the hero of our history.

그러므로 그 하나님 앞에 겸손해야 합니다. 그 하나님의 왕권을 분명하게 믿고 순종해야 합니다.

Therefore, we must be humble before God. We must trust and obey God’s kingdom clearly.

여러분의 위치가 다른 사람보다 높습니까? 그 권력은 하나님으로부터 주어진 것입니다.

Is your position higher than others? That power is given by God.

다른 사람보다 물질의 축복을 더 많이 받았습니까? 그 물질 하나님으로부터 주어진 것입니다.

Have you received more material blessings than others? It is from God.

다른 사람보다 건강의 축복을 받았습니까? 그 건강 하나님이 주신 것입니다.

Are you more blessed with health than others? It is from God.

그러므로 그 하나님 앞에서 종의 의식 가지고 말씀대로 바르게 살아야 합니다. 하나님의 뜻을 찾아야 합니다. 하나님이 원하시는 것이 무엇인가 물어보아야 합니다.

Thus, you must live righteously in the presence of God, with being conscious as a servant of God. We must seek the will of God. We have to ask what God wants.

거기에 진정한 가치와 평화가 있습니다. 사랑하는 성도 여러분! 하나님만이 우리의 왕이십니다. 하나님 나라 백성이 된 것을 기쁘시게 생각하시기 바랍니다.

There is true value and peace. My beloved congregation! Only God is our king. Let’s be glad to be God’s people.

하나님의 통치에 만족하며 충성하며 살아가시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

I pray and bless in the name of the Lord that you may live with contentment and faithfully abide by God’s rule.
