저도 미국에 오래 살다 보니 많이 변했어요. 별로 그런데 민감하지 않는데, 시대가 변하면 우리도 조금씩 변합니다.
Now that I have been living in the U.S. for decades, I notice that I have changed too. We change over time.
처음 배꼽티 입었을 때 끔찍했습니다. 그런데 요즘 가만히 보면 배꼽이 살짝살짝 보이는 게 예쁘더라고요. 아줌마들도 가끔 흉내 내는 분들이 있어요. 그래도 볼만 해요.
I was terrified when people first began to wear shirts that exposed their bellies. But after a while, everyone got used to it and now it is popular. Some middle-aged women try to follow this trend.
제가 어떻게 하면 예뻐지느냐? 그 비법 하나 가르쳐 주겠습니다. 벌써 눈빛이 달라지네요.
But I will tell you the secret to beauty. I can see that your eyes are shining now.
어떻게 하느냐 하면 아무리 피곤해도 들어와서 하루의 삶을 평가하는데 기쁘고 즐겁고 좋았던 일을 생각하고 감사하는 마음으로 자면 얼굴이 예뻐진대요.
No matter how tired you are, reflect upon the good things that have happened on that day before you go to sleep. Then, fall asleep with a grateful heart. This is the secret to beauty.
Anyways, 유행 따라 사는 것 좋습니다. 하고 싶은 것 하는 것 좋습니다.
Anyways, following the trend is okay. Doing what you want to do is okay.
그러나 꼭 잊지 말아야 될 것은 세상에 너무 취하지 말아야 합니다. 우리의 정신이 흐려지면 안 됩니다. 우리는 언제나 예수 믿는 나실인들입니다.
However, we must not get intoxicated by the pleasures of this world. We need to be sober-minded and remember we are followers of Jesus Christ. We are Nazirites.
Amish/재세례파 개통의 기독교인들이 모여 사는 오하이오주나 필라델피아에 가면 아미쉬 동네가 있습니다.
The Amish are one of many Anabaptist groups. There is an Amish town in Ohio and Philadelphia.
17세기 이후 탄압을 피해 스위스, 독일 등 유럽에서 이민 온 자들입니다. 그들은 현대 문명을 거부합니다.
These are people who immigrated from European countries such as Switzerland and Germany to escape oppression in the 17th century. Furthermore, they reject modern technology.
전깃불, 자동차 다 거부하고 마차 타고 다닙니다. 맨발로 농사짓고 삽니다. 그들이 입는 옷도 단순합니다.
They refuse to use electricity. Instead of using cars, the Amish use a Horse & Buggy. They also wear plain clothing.
Anyways, 그들의 사상이 다 옳다는 것은 아니지만, 21세기에도 그렇게 사는 사람이 있다는 것은 예수 믿는 우리들에게 도전이 되는 것입니다.
I am not saying their ideology is 100% correct. But the fact that some people still live like that in the 21st century should challenge us.
