박헌성 목사 한영설교집 제5집 중에서 발췌 – 70
포항에서 정치망 어업을 하는 어떤 집사님의 이야기입니다. 정치망 어업이란 바다에 그물을 쳐 놓고, 입구는 25m, 그리고 이쪽으로 들어오는 문은 1m, 고기가 놀다가 1m 문으로 들어와야 되는 사업입니다.
This is a story of a deacon who had a fixed-net fishing business. Fixed-net fishing consists of setting a net to block and catch the passage of migrating fish. The entrance of the fishery was 25 meters wide, but the entrance of the net was one meter.
그런데 이 사업이 너무 안 되고, 고기가 안 잡히니까 계속 빚이 늘어나는데 4억 6천만 원, 이제는 돈을 더 빌릴 곳도 없고, 신경을 많이 쓰니까 몸은 아파오고 죽고 싶은 마음뿐이더랍니다.
His business was not going well. He was not catching fish so he kept taking out loans. He owed about $40,000. There was no way he could take out more loans. He was so stressed out his health was getting worse. He felt like dying.
그때 이 집사님 마음속에 ‘그래, 이래도 저래도 안 되니 기도라도 한번 해보자. 내가 교회는 오래 다녔고 집사라고 하지만, 언제 제대로 기도 한 번 했던가. 어차피 망할 것 교회 가서 기도나 한번 해보자’
At that moment, he thought to himself, ‘Well. Nothing is working out. I will go to church and try to pray. I have been attending the church for so long, but I am not sure if I have ever tried praying with all my heart. This is my last resort.’
그리고 교회에 왔는데 기도하자마자 눈물이 비 오듯이 쏟아지고 그동안 세상 적으로 인간적으로 살았던 자기의 모습이 부끄럽고 회개가 막 쏟아지고, “하나님! 하나님! 나 살려 주세요. 나 한 번만 도와주세요.” 통곡하면서 열심히 기도했습니다.
He went to church and began to pray. He burst into tears and realized how big of a sinner he was. He was ashamed of his sinful lifestyle. He began to repent, “My God! My God! Please save me. Please help me just this once.” He cried out to the Lord.
그런데 그 밤에 이상한 일이 벌어졌습니다. 그렇게 안 잡히던 어장에 방어가 5천 마리가 잡혔는데 싯가가 5억 2천만원. 빚 4억 6천 다 갚고 나머지로 다시 사업을 크게 일으켜서 부자 됐습니다.
Something strange happened that night. He caught five thousand yellow tail fish. They were worth $45,000 in total. He paid back all his debt and used the surplus to recover his business.
그렇습니다. 기도를 열심히 하면 성령의 충만을 받게 되고 성령 충만하면 문제는 해결되고 범사는 형통합니다. 그러므로 기도의 파이프가 막혀 있으면 뚫어야 합니다.
That’s right. When we pray with fervency, we will be filled with the Holy Spirit. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we will prosper. Therefore, if the pipe of prayer is clogged, we must unclog it.
잘못이 있으면 회개해야 합니다. ‘회개하여 죄 사함을 받으라. 그리하면 성령을 선물을 받으리라.’ 하나님과 나와의 교통이 원활하게 돼야 합니다.
If we have sinned, we must repent. “Repent and you will be forgiven. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” We must have continual communion with God.
“기도해서 해결되는 것은 기도해야지.” 세상의 그 어떤 방법으로도 안 됩니다. 열심히 기도하면 하나님의 능력이 내 생활 가운데 역사되어집니다.
Some problems can only be solved through prayer. No worldly solution will be able to solve them. We must experience the power of God in our life as we pray with fervency.
