그들은 예수님께서 그들의 죄를 위해 십자가에 돌아가신 것을 알았습니다. 그들이 모여서 떡을 뗄 때마다
They believed that Jesus took to the cross to pay for their sins. Every time they gathered to break bread, they remembered

예수 그리스도의 찢기신 살과 흘리신 피를 기념했습니다. 자신들이 가지고 있는 모든 것, 생명까지도 주님을 위해 바치는 데 주저하지 않았습니다.
Christ’s flesh and blood that was shed on the cross. They did not hesitate to give everything they had to the Lord, even their lives.

왜정 말기에 광주 지방법원의 공판 기록을 보면 담당 판사가 “신사를 어떻게 보느냐”라고 손양원 목사님께 이렇게

질문했습니다. “신사를 어떻게 보십니까?” 그 질문에 손 목사님은 “신사를 우상으로 봅니다”라고 당당하게 대답했습니다.

그뿐 아니라 “일본 천황도 예수 안 믿으면 지옥 갑니다”라고 이어서 말했습니다. 이런 용기는 하나님만을 의지하는 믿음에서 나옵니다.
He went on and said, “Even the emperor of Japan will go to hell if he does not believe in Jesus.” This kind of courage only comes when you have faith in God.

믿음을 소유한 자의 용기는 이처럼 비굴하지 않고 당당합니다. 그렇습니다. 오늘날 신앙생활을 하는 성도 중에

그는 잠시 생각에 잠겼다가 “내 생애 가장 큰 발견은 나는 죄인이요, 예수 그리스도는 나의 구세주라는 것입니다”라고 답했습니다.
he replied, “The greatest discovery in my life was that I am a sinner and Jesus Christ is my Savior.”

그렇습니다. 초대교회 성도들은 그들이 만나는 사람들에게 예수님을 전했습니다. “우리는 예수님의 십자가 때문에 구원을 받았습니다.”
That’s right. The members of the early church testified of Jesus Christ to everyone they met. They said, “We have been saved because of the death of Jesus Christ.”

그들은 이 복음을 담대히 전하고 회개하고 예수님을 우리의 주인으로 믿으라고 사람들에게 말했습니다.
They boldly proclaimed the gospel and called everyone to repent and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

그렇습니다. 우리의 구원은 우연히 이루어진 것이 아니라 우리를 사랑하시는 하나님께서 예수님을 이 땅에
That’s right. We are not saved by accident. For God so loved the world, He sent His Son Jesus Christ

보내사 십자가에서 우리의 죗값을 치르고 구원해 주셨습니다. 이것이 복음의 핵심입니다. 그래서 초대교회 성도들은 모일 때마다
into this world to die on the cross on our behalf. This is the crux of the gospel. The members of the early church.

예수님을 향해서 사랑과 생명 바쳐 충성을 맹세했습니다. 고난은 여전히 고난입니다.
pledged their loyalty to Jesus every time they gathered together. They committed their lives to Jesus in love. However, suffering is still suffering.
