- 기죽지 말고 기운을 내라 Do Not Be Discouraged-Cheer Up 습 Zep. 3:14-20
“시온의 딸아 노래할지어다 이스라엘아 기쁘게 부를지어다 예루살렘 딸아 전심으로 기뻐하며 즐거워할지어다 여호와가 네 형벌을 제거하였고 네 원수를 쫓아냈으며 이스라엘 왕 여호와가 네 가운데 계시니 네가 다시는 화를 당할까 두려워하지 아니할 것이라 그 날에 사람이 예루살렘에 이르기를 두려워하지 말라 시온아 네 손을 늘어뜨리지 말라 너의 하나님 여호와가 너의 가운데에 계시니 그는 구원을 베푸실 전능자이시라 그가 너로 말미암아 기쁨을 이기지 못하시며 너를 잠잠히 사랑하시며 너로 말미암아 즐거이 부르며 기뻐하시리라 하리라 내가 절기로 말미암아 근심하는 자들을 모으리니 그들은 네게 속한 자라 그들에게 지워진 짐이 치욕이 되었느니라 그 때에 내가 너를 괴롭게 하는 자를 다 벌하고 저는 자를 구원하며 쫓겨난 자를 모으며 온 세상에서 수욕 받는 자에게 칭찬과 명성을 얻게 하리라 내가 그 때에 너희를 이끌고 그 때에 너희를 모을지라 내가 너희 목전에서 너희의 사로잡힘을 돌이킬 때에 너희에게 천하 만민 가운데서 명성과 칭찬을 얻게 하리라 여호와의 말이니라”(습 3:14-20)
“Sing, O Daughter of Zion; shout aloud, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O Daughter of Jerusalem! The LORD has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The LORD, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm. On that day they will say to Jerusalem, “Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands hang limp. The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” “The sorrows for the appointed feasts I will remove from you; they are a burden and a reproach to you. At that time I will deal with all who oppressed you; I will rescue the lame and gather those who have been scattered. I will give them praise and honor in every land where they were put to shame. At that time I will gather you; at that time I will bring you home. I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes before your very eyes,” says the LORD.”(Zephaniah 3:14-20)
중세에 어떤 수도사가 하루는 제자들을 다 불러 모았습니다. 그는 하얀 종이 위에 펜으로 선을 그었습니다.
In the Middle Ages, a monk summoned his disciples one day. He drew a line on white paper with a pen.
그리고 그것을 제자들에게 보여주면서 그는 이렇게 말을 했습니다. “이 선에 손을 대지 말고 이 선을 가늘고 짧게 만들어라.” 제자들은 아무리 들여다보고 생각해도 풀 수가 없었습니다.
Showing it to his disciples, he said, “Don’t touch this line and make it thinner and shorter.” The disciples could not solve it.
한참 뒤에 한 제자가 스승의 의도를 알아차렸습니다. 그는 빙그레 웃으면서 앞으로 나와 붓을 들고 스승이 그은 선 옆으로 더 굵고 더 긴 선을 여러 개 그었습니다. 그러다 보니 스승이 그은 선은 상대적으로 가늘고도 작아 보이게 되었습니다.
After a while, a disciple figured out the teacher’s intention. He smiled and came forward, holding a brush and drawing several thicker and longer lines next to the line drawn by the teacher. As a result, the line drawn by the teacher appeared relatively thin and small.
그렇습니다. 우리가 살아가다 보면 이런저런 어려운 문제에 부딪힐 때가 많이 있습니다.
Yes. There are many times when we face difficult problems in life.
그럴 때 그 문제에 집착하다 보면 염려와 근심과 걱정이 쌓이게 되고 마음에는 기쁨과 감사, 평강이 자리 잡을 틈이 없어지고 마는 것입니다.
Then, if we focus on the problem, dread, worry, and insecurity would pile up, and our hearts will have no room for joy, gratitude, and peace.
그러므로 그 어떤 문제에 너무 매달리지 말아야 합니다. 요즘같이 코로나 사태로 경제적 어려움과 실업자가 늘어나고 여러 가지 인종차별 시위, 폭동으로 인한 갈등 등 우리의 생활이 힘들수록, 어려울수록 신앙의 줄을 더욱더 굵고 길게 그려야 합니다. 말씀의 줄, 기도의 줄, 찬송의 줄, 감사의 줄을 힘껏 많이 그어야 합니다. 신앙의 줄, 믿음의 줄, 헌신의 줄을 더욱더 힘차게 그려야 합니다. 그러면 나에게 있는 여러 가지 세상의 어려운 문제는 어느덧 간 곳 없이 사라져 버리고 마는 것입니다.
Therefore, we should not cling to any problems. Due to the coronavirus crisis, we are facing financial difficulties and rising unemployment rates. Various racial protests and conflicts make our lives tougher and harder and it is time to draw a thicker and longer lines of faith. We have to draw as many lines as possible. The line of the Words, prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. The line of faith and devotion should be drawn more clearly.
